USS Kearsarge Departs on 4-Month Carib Mission

The US Navy  warship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), a Wasp-class assault amphibious ship, departs Norfolk today for a four-month mission of mercy in the Caribbean. Operation Continuing Promise is intended to win hearts and minds by providing medical care and infrastructure projects in Nicaragua, Colombia, Panama, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana.

Military medical personnel from  Canada, The Netherlands, Spain, France and Brazil are also on board.

The sailors, airmen, marines, and soldiers deployed as part of the Operation Continuing Promise joint task force will return home in early December.

    I saw this ship in our Gulf of Paria in Port of Spain Trinidad this morning . What a refreshing sight and I am please to known of the mission here in my homeland ….Thanks to you all………………
