According to US Air Force officials, Alaska’s Eielson Air Force Base is on the short list of possible bases for USAF’s new F-35 Lightning II multirole fighter. Previously known as the Joint Strike Fighter  or JSF, the F-35 Lightning II could also be stationed at:

 Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina;

Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho;

Moody Air Force Base, Georgia;

Hill Air Force Base, Utah;

and Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
